Katie is a multilingual Development Consultant located in the Washington, DC metro area. She focuses predominantly on grant writing, and has helped raise over $6.5 million for clients since 2020. She also writes annual reports and donor appeals; does research, social media management, and event planning; and provides virtual executive assistant services.
Katie discovered her talent for development work when she joined UnidosUS (formerly NCLR), the largest Latino-serving nonprofit in the United States. She spent two years working with their Resource Development team, writing and sending paper and digital appeals, drafting stories for the annual report, and helping plan and execute the Annual Conference and bi-annual Corporate Board of Advisors meetings.
Before striking out on her own, Katie worked with Hyundai Motor Company in their government affairs office, learning the ins-and-outs of legislation, lobbying, and how things get done (or not) on Capitol Hill. Prior to that, she spent several years overseas in Beijing, China working as an English Teacher, an English Editor, and as an Events and Operations Coordinator with the American Chamber of Commerce – China.
She received her BA in International Studies from American University, and speaks English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Russian. She is a polyglot, dancer, martial artist, world traveler, and is a ride-or-die Washington Capitals fan.
